Our Story...

Starting in the steel game in 2010, learning from experience both business and welding. Always having an interest in interior design and fabricating furniture, I was never able to start, other than doing a couple of small projects here and there. in the darkness of the '2020 lockdown' I decided to start my own 21 day lockdown challenge, 1 piece a day for 21 days from my garage.

After succeeding at this challenge and having a lot of interest from friends and family I decided to pursue my passion for furniture and start narrowing down the industrial side of steel work. Using social media as the advertising platform and some assistance here and there I haven't really looked back.

POWDER COATING

Powder coating is a process of applying a decorative and protective coating to a metal. Powder coating can be applied to various other materials but predominantly metal in SA. It involves applying a dry powder to a surface electrostatically, then heating it to bond and cure the powder into a durable coating. The powder coating finish used mainly for our products is a textured matt black. Powder coating is not as durable for external use. We do recommend using extra methods together with powder coating to protect metal when products are going to be used outside.

WOODEN TOPS

Selecting a wooden top. There are many choices to choose from when choosing a wooden top for your new furniture piece. We use only solid woods and not veneers nor pvc coated chip board. When choosing your wooden top, be sure to choose a top that fits in with the surrounding and matches other wooden pieces in the room. Be aware that certain woods do better outside compared to others. We prefer to not coat our wooden tops and keep them as natural as possible. The character of the wood can change drastically with finishings. Water based varnishes are not always the best protection but offer a good balance between the natural colouring of the wood and a decent protection.
